SQL server database has user defined objects, cannot configure database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just stood up a svr ent 2008 R2 w/SP1, attempting to install Central management Site for SCCM 2012.

Encountered the following error: "SQL server database has user defined objects, cannot configure database".

The database that was chosen by SCCM 2012 does not appear on the SQL server.  Not sure what went wrong.

  • Setup is basically telling you that the database specified already exists and is not empty - it has tables, sprocs, views  and/or other objects.  A very common way that happens is that a previous setup failed after configuring the database at least partially and left the database behind.  Usually setup creates the database in the default case so just manually choosing a different name of a database that does not exist usually works around the issue.  There could be something else going on as well but that is a common cause and solution.
