Lookup Table Attributes Greyed Out for Field RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a lookup table for the Requester field, but when I went to point the field to the table, I found that both lookup table and formula were greyed out (only single and multiple line text were not).  Can this be changed easily and if so, how?

  • No problem. If the field already existing (new field created during deployment) as just a text field and now want to change it to link to a look up table you will either need to create a new field and link that to your lookup table when you create the field or delete the existing field and recreate it linking to the lookup table. Personally I would create a new field so that you do not lose data if the existing field is currently used.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

Is this a new custom field? If so is the type set to text? If it is an existing field then you will need to delete and recreate the field or to keep historical data just create a new field and link that to the look up table.

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Thank you, Paul.  It is set to text, but it may well be a new custom field set up during deployment, since I don't see it as a standard field in the original trial instance.
