"No item exists at... It may have been deleted or renamed by another user" RRS feed

  • Question

  • The following error message comes when trying to access a list item or trying to add or delete an item in a library:

"No item exists at http://server/sites/Security/Lists/Incidents/DispForm.aspx?ID=211.  It may have been deleted or renamed by another user.Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services."

In our case, this error occures only when using Internet Explorer (tested only with version 8), but NOT for everyone. With Mozilla Firefox everything works fine.

And it has nothing to do with user rights. The same user, who can't access the lists or libraries with his own computer, will be able to access them with some other computer (or with his own computer when using Mozilla Firefox).

And if the error message comes, it comes when accessing all the lists and libraries on every site within the site collection... Our users have either XP or Windows 7, and the problem has turned up on both operating systems.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

    Regards,
    Elina

  • Hi LapElina,

From your description, it seems that the problem happens because SharePoint has its own variable named ID which it uses to identify documents/pages on the server, the users which have this problem should have been using a variable named ID. If this is the reason, you can refer to this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972225/. You can get detailed information and solution there.
