Error code 0x80004005 - Got a few issues with Client RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

    Thanks for reading my post

I have an issue with instaling the client and with AD ( I think)

Better start with some test lab info

    I have three VMs

    1 DC - called New-dc01-w12 - Running DHCP

    2 SCCM 2012 Server

    3 1 Windows 8 Client - IP address 10.0.0.30 (from DHCP)

All my PCs\Servers can talk to one another, Client can login to the Domain with out any issues.

Issue is that the Client management is not installing on my one client, I have tried to installing through GP ( that says in event log it was successful, but no client is installed) I then tried to install using the manual install and that does not work - here is the log file, I have also tried to push the client to my PC

  • Did you extend the AD schema and complete the tasks necessary to publish site information in AD?

  • Hello

Thanks for getting back to me

I have looked at the MS document and it had already been configured - did not need to change any of the settings

I would post some images but I need to verify my account some how

  • Under Administration -> Hierarchy Configuration -> Active Directory Forests -> Is your Domain listed here, and is the Publishing Status on Succeeded?

  • Hello

It says Insufficient access rights under Publishing Status

    Sunday, March 24, 2013 10:51 PM
  • Four actions are required to successfully enable Configuration Manager clients to query Active Directory Domain Services to locate site resources:

    • Extend the Active Directory schema.
    • Create the System Management container.
    • Set security permissions on the System Management container.
    • Enable Active Directory publishing for the Configuration Manager site.

    From: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712272.aspx

So you have to make sure, that those Containers exist, and the Site Server can write to it.

Here is a step by step for all those Actions: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/21b20921-7997-4b8c-bf1e-ec4c476620cc#BKMK_SetSMContainer

  • "Ccmsetup was run without any user parameters specified. Running without registering ccmsetup as a service."

No MP or source location has been explicitly specified. Trying to discover a valid content location...

what are the switches you use while initiating the install ?. A typical ccm setup command should look like this

    "CCMSetup.exe /mp:SMSMP01 /logon SMSSITECODE=S01 FSP=SMSFSP01"

"/logon" should only used when you are using logon script to install sccm client ...

  • Hello

I think I have found my issue

    1.  for CCMSetup I am runing this command CCMsetup.exe /mp:NEW-SCCM-W12 SMSSITECODE=PRI FSP=NEW-SCCM-W12

my SCCM server is called  NEW-SCCM-W12

    2.  I have looked at my site logs - and have found this

"Configuration Manager could not locate the "System Management" container in Active Directory (Thomas-NEW.local). Nor could it create a default container. This will prevent Site Component Manager and Hierarchy Manager from updating or adding any objects to Active Directory.

Possible cause: The site server's machine account might not have the correct rights to update active directory.
Solution: Either give the Service Account rights to update the domain's System Container, or manually create the "System Management" container in this domain's Active Directory system container, and give the site server computer account full rights to that container (and all children objects.)"

On my DC ( called NEW-DC01-W12) I made a container called System Management and give the SCCM server (NEW-SCCM-W12$)  and my SCCM admin (SCCMADMIN)  account full Full Control permissions to the System Management container and all its child objects. Not sure where the $ came from

    I used http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb680711.aspx before I installed SQL 2012 and SCCM 2012

Here is a copy of the file after I ran the file on the CD to  extended Active Directory schema
