In this case, Beta is a computer Science term.
It means; An application or program that is in development and undergoing testing.

First of all, note that "beta" is short for the full term "beta
testing."Beta testing is a step in the testing process when software is being
developed. Note that not every company means exactly the same thing by
"beta testing," but Microsoft's use of the term is typical.Beta testing is the phase of testing that follows alpha testing. Alpha
testing is the testing that is done in-house by employees. Beta
testing is done by the public, to whom the product is released for
testing. The most important thing to realize about a beta version of a product
is the reason it's a beta test version instead of a released version:
it's that it still has bugs in it, and Microsoft is looking for beta
test users to inform them of other bugs as they are found,
In my view, unless you have a spare computer to install it on, and enjoy doing beta testing of software and reporting of bugs to Microsoft, installing beta software is just looking for trouble.
Yes, you can install beta versions, but for almost everyone I strongly
advise against doing that, and waiting for it to be released.
