Cannot remove protection-switched datasource with System Protection replica inconsistent RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM Chain:

    DPM 2012 Primary

    DPM 2012 Secondary

Cannot remove protection-switched datasource with System Protection replica inconsistent from secondary DPM server protection group. GUI shows success when removing it or protection group with replica deletion but nothing changes. Powershell shows nothing.

Replica keeps inconsistent with An unexpected error occurred while the job was running. (ID 104 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))

The issue reproduced two times in test lab and in production.

For me it looks like a bug, isn't it?

  • MS DPM TAP guys helped to resolve this. Failed protection-switched datasource cannot be removed but can be switched back to the primary server, even if its active protection is disabled on the primary which was our case. Then MS has special script to delete ex-secondary datasources from secondary server's SQL in a case you wish to move primary protection to the secondary DPM server which again was our case.

  • Hi

Do you have any anti-virus Dpmra.exe located in the following path: %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Bin

This Microsoft article talks about DPM 2006 and 2007 but it might assist you:
