  • Hello Raritan,

SCVMM2016 supports using the rolling upgrade feature to upgrade Hyper-V Cluster from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016 without stopping Hyper-V workloads running on the nodes. You can upgrade an entire cluster, or specific cluster nodes.

Please see the following article for more details.

Comparing two different product is not so easy (vmware vs Hyper-v/vmm), but take a look of this article.

  • Dear Tomi,

My customer has scvmm 2012 r2 and two physical host which is hosting multiple vms. Now my customer want to upgrade to scvmm 2016. Before starting further POA.

I want to know what will be the pre requisites if we directly do the upgradation on existing setup.

What will be the risk factor and roll back plan in case of failure.

Please help me with the step by step guide for upgradation from scvmm 2012 r2 to scvmm 2016.
