Cannot deploy the virtualized application package in SCCM 2007 SP2 With R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a lab environment of SCCM 2007 SP2 with R2. I sequenced the software Opera 11.0 (Using AppV Sequencer)and created a new package for "Virtual Application Package" in SCCM, and created an Advertisement as well. I created to run the application by downloading from distribution point to ccm\cache folder. The advertised application is also downloaded to cache folder, but i didn't see any of the shortcuts of Opera 11.0 browser.

Before these things i had installed AppV client software in that client machines ( didn't set any configuration in AppV client). And enabled the "Allow virtual application package advertisement" option in Advertised program client agent . Then enabled "Virtual application streaming" option in configuration of Distribution point option.

    Kindly post your suggestions.

  • Thanks for your reply,

I have checked the client log file execmgr.log. it shows "Program: [Virtual application] succeeded with exit code 0". Even in SCCM reports, i got the status message "succeeded" for this deployment.

And i got the below states from Virtualapp.log file.

  • I already gone through the above links. but there is no more information about App V client configuration ( like "Publishing server").

For your information, I had deployed the App V client 4.6 version in the SCCM client machines earlier. It was done from SCCM.

  • Hello,

    There is a specific chapter named;

Deploy the App-V Client Software to Configuration Manager Client PCs

  • from the logs, everything seems to be fine. There are no errors that cause the application lunch fail.

can you verify the application(app-V) settings,if you have specified any options to publish short-icon on to desktop or start menu or something else?

Do you see the same application is working on any other computers ?

  • Yes. But it does not create shortcuts in desktop. And the reports says that "the application is installed successfully" But we had created this package with desktop shorcuts while sequencing. When we had deployed the same application in AppV Management server, it was working fine... :-(

  • I already did all of the settings which was stated in that documents under the topic "Deploy the App-V Client Software to Configuration Manager Client PCs". If any one comes to know about any video tutorials of Virtual application package deployment in sccm, please let me know.

  • Hello,

If there isn't anything special defined in the whitepaper - you probably don't need to configure anything special. The whitepaper for App-V / SCCM is quite extensive and detailed.

Have you verified the log-files of the App-V client?

have you verified if the application is available in the App-V Client management console?

Have you verified that the package contains the information that allows the application to be published on the desktop for the client-type you are targeting?

  • Thanks for your reply,,, 1) I verified the AppV client log file (sftlog.txt), it states that, [01/06/2011 11:54:54:465 OSDF INF] {tid=A30:usr=Administrator} The Application Virtualization Client could not parse the OSD file 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Application Virtualization Client\Temp\f1039de3-0525-4a2b-bbd1-001678eb955f.osd'. It has the information that allows the application to be published on the desktop for the client.. PLEASE HELP ME.....
