Changes in Header name or Number of columns will Increase or Decrease CSV file from folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

Normally in power Query we are performing data  transformation from a csv file from a folder.

    Sometime columns header names changed.

Sometime Number of column will increase or decrease like (Date/Time in single column) but in next time ( Date & Time in 2 separate columns)

In nutshell due to this changes we are facing expression error cannot run query further. Is there any way query will accept this changes.

    Please advice

Site ID Client ID Tag ID Location (Pallet) (Date/Time)

Now Header name changed ( Pallet 2) and separate columns fro date & Time

Site ID Client ID Tag ID Location (Pallet2) (Date) (Time)

  • You should import the files as they are and then add new columns for Date/Time that use conditional formulas. Then delete the old columns.

For example: If [Date/Time] = null then Date & Time else [Date/Time]
