How do I get all the unique keys in a content source? (i.e. getallrefs IDOL equivalent) RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

    I was wondering if FAST has a method to retrieve all the unique keys for a given content source?  We migrated from IDOL and some of our clients use the IDOL getallrefs functionality.

    Thanks

  • I´m not technically familiar with IDOL, but I think what you are looking for is crawled properties for the content source. If the content source in question prefixes the properties you can either via admin UI or PowerShell list all the crawled properties starting with that prefix.

    Example:

    Get-FASTSearchMetadataCrawledProperty -Filter prefix

  • hi,

    I am trying to find all the document's unique keys within a given FAST content source.  IDOL would return all the unique identifiers for all documents in a given collection.

    Thanks

  • As you only have one collection with FS4SP where all content sources are adding their content, you can only list out crawled properties for the entire system, not one source in particular. Unless your content sources use a prefix like I mention, which allows you to filter them.

    It might also be possible for a content source to add all crawled properties to a custom property group. You can list all groups with:

    Get-FASTSearchMetadataCategory

    Then to get all crawled properties on SharePoint you can do:

    $category = Get-FASTSearchMetadataCategory -Name SharePoint
    $category.GetAllCrawledProperties()

    Your other option would be to "debug" the indexing process, and spy what each new item added for meta data.
