mailbox not opening when full access is applied exchange 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Having an odd problem... I am trying to allow another user full-access to another users mailbox, seems simple enough..

Users are both on Exchange 2010, went through the EMC and using PS,

Get-Mailbox -Identity "UserJoe" | Add-MailboxPermission -user "UserSally" -AccessRights FullAccess

Was prompted that the permissions are already being applied, which is great!

When i go to 'User Sally' to add the mailbox, i get an error about the name not being able to resolve 'User Joe' mailbox.

  • Hi,

From your description, you need to check the following:

<1>Run the following command to check whether full permission is grant correct, and please post the result

Get-MailboxPermission -Identity “UserJoe” –User “UserSally” | fl

<2>Check whether the user Sally belongs to some distribution groups which there are some inherited permissions preventing this permission

Hope it helps. If this issue still occurs, please let us know.

    Thanks

  • How long are you waiting?

Exchange permissions are cached, so can often take two hours before the permission is live. I would also check through the GUI to see whether the permission has stuck.

  • It has been over a week now.

Looking through the GUI, the permissions are correctly being referenced.
