Bug: confirming sign-in with fingerprint/PIN not working at all RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently, whenever I log into my Microsoft account, the app started requesting a fingerprint/PIN authentication when I accept the login on my phone, but whenever I pass it, it asks again (as if failed, but it doesn't say it failed) and then finally fails with "Too many attempts, restart phone to try again", despite the fingerprint getting accepted or me correctly entering my device PIN.

This bug renders logging in with the Authenticator app useless as I am guaranteed to fail on that: I have to use my password and enter the 8-digit code.

This happens regardless of whether I am asked to pick the number appearing on the screen or accept the login otherwise. I also found no way to disable this fingerprint/PIN check in the app, so I cannot login to my account with the Authenticator's sign-in feature.

Device: OnePlus 5T, Android 10. App version: stable (latest from Play Store, non-beta).
