Transient errors while connecting to previously successful MySQL database RRS feed

  • Question

  • I own a MySQL database and am using Powerquery to connect to various tables. There are times when the connection fails, and suggests that I change the encryption type (which never works).

I can see on MySQL client connections that it's attempting to execute a SQL statement for concatenating some schema information to return to the client, but it just repeatedly fails. I'm using a non-root user, but even root access has a tendency to fail. I've tried using machine name, fully qualified machine name, IP (v4) address variations and that proves to be an inconsistent remedy.

Is there a more verbose log / debug file that exists to troubleshoot this further? It's incredibly frustrating dealing with an issue that is this transient, but is also a show stopper.
