Sequencing iTunes 10.1

Question
-
No, it's not a joke. I am working with a client who uses iTunes extensively on their PCs to rip CD audio and make it available through their website. I'd like to virtualized iTunes so it can be easily deployed to any PC on their campus. The sequencing of iTunes went perfectly (disabled updates, set directories, etc...) and the virtualized iTunes application launches successfully on the client. However, when attempting to rip/burn a CD, a windows error report appears referencing coreaudiotoolbox.dll.
Anyone have ideas on this? I'm not just looking to solve the iTunes issue, but learn more of the troubleshooting process behind sequenced applications.

Thanks Znack - I already added the LOCAL_INTERACTION_ALLOWED tag to the OSD file without success.Monday, November 22, 2010 9:57 PM

Hello,
Anything else that you already tried?

That's it. Basic sequence, LOCAL_INTERACTION_ALLOWED manually added to the OSD.Monday, November 22, 2010 10:22 PM

Hello,
well, some people are complaining about the same things;http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11550044

Yes Znack, I've also Googled for "coreaudiotoolbox.dll" - but those results are simply people having issues with their normal iTunes installation. This is something related to the iTunes interaction with App-V. Can anyone tell me what would be the best process to troubleshoot this from the App-V side of things? How can I determine when the App-V app is reaching outside it's "bubble"? What are methods I could use to resolve requests to local resources?Monday, November 22, 2010 10:34 PM

Hello,
I use process monitor for all troubleshooting.
This has been documented since Softricity times;ecn.channel9.msdn.com/o9/te/NorthAmerica/2010/pptx/VIR321.pptx

Then again - rarely does my knowledge of App-V contribute to any resolution as the knowledge of the application is always more valuable.
(thats of course documented in chapter 4 of the sequencing whitepaper, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/appvirtualization/cc843994.aspx)In general, reading the previous threads are of course useful;
http://www.appvirtguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3523
To be able to determine if there are better ways of deploying the application (instead of focusing on a specific technology), appdeploy always offers great insights;
http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=1928
Often, all of this knowledge combined with intimate detailed knowledge of the application (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/) is a good way to proceed to determine the best way to deploy any application

Hello Jeremy,
did you find a "recipe" for sequencing iTunes?
I sequenced it successfully, but after deploy when i connect iPad i become an error message, that a software component fails...
quicktime starts fine.
Zho.
P.S. sorry for my bad english ;-)

No - iTunes is still non-functional for me at this time. I know it uses plenty of device drivers (which are painful with App-V). Please let me know if you find anything!Monday, December 13, 2010 9:03 PM
