Resource management reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My company just started using project online.  The motivation for using project online was to be able to produce a report across all projects of available resources versus required resources.

I have set up three projects, and have started to create a resource plan for each of the three projects.

However, when I go to the reports, and click on English Reports, Resource Overview, all that shows up is all data is filtered out, and I cannot figure out why.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks

    Two questions:

    1. Did you actually PUBLISH each of the Resource Plans?  You must publish each Resource Plan in order to see the data in PWA?
    2. Why are you using Resource Plans for this purpose?  I would recommend that you assign resources to tasks in each of these three projects and then publish the projects.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Dale,

As far as I can tell, I have published the Resource Plans.

At this point in our project planning, we have an idea of who needs to work on which projects, but we do not have the projects set up by tasks yet.

    Some additional info:

I tried to refresh the data in the report, and I get the following:

The 'ResourceEmailAddress' column does not exist in the rowset.

I have no idea (yet) how to fix that.

  • Hello,

Resource Plan work will not be shown in the default "Resource Overview" report as it only includes AssignmentWork - this is the field for when you assign resources to tasks in project plans, not resource plans. The Odata query below is from the default Resource Overview report:

    /pwa/_api/ProjectData/[en-US]/Assignments?$select=ProjectId,AssignmentId,AssignmentActualCost,AssignmentActualWork,AssignmentCost,AssignmentWork,ProjectName,ResourceId,ResourceName,TaskId,TaskIsActive,TaskName

The field you would need is AssignmentResourcePlanWork. If you want to see the resource plan work update the ODATA URL to include the AssignmentResourcePlanWork then update the Resource Overview report to use that field - or create a new report.

  • Regarding your refresh error, the "ResourceEmailAddress" field is not used in the default "Resource Overview" report, have you update the "OData Resources Data" connection in Excel to add this in? The default Odata URl for the resource data in this report is:

    /pwa/_api/ProjectData/[en-US]/Resources?$select=ResourceId,ResourceName,ResourceStandardRate,ResourceOvertimeRate,ResourceCode,ResourceCostPerUse,ResourceType,ResourceBookingType,ResourceIsActive,ResourceIsGeneric,ResourceIsTeam,ResourceBaseCalendar,ResourceCostCenter

  • When I try to set up a data connection for a new excel spreadsheet, I put in my office 365 account information, but excel comes back with the error, (403) Forbidden.

I am saddened that reports don't work out of the box, and this has been really difficult.

What permissions am I missing?  I am an administrator on the site.

  • I am slowly getting there.  I am starting to get the reports to work.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Good to hear you are creating / modifying reports and getting them working. The report out of the box are just example reports really to get you started. For details on reports for Project Online see some links below:
