Only allowing folders with certain names to be created? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I was wondering if it was possible to only allow folders with certain names to be created. For example, when you are in a document library and open the 'new' drop down menu you will be presented with 6 pre-named folders to choose from.

We had a real problem on our last drive of people just creating folders with any name they wanted which made it unbelievably difficult to find anything.

I have been playing around with Content Types but I am not entirely sure if this is the correct place to be looking.

    Cheers

  • It can be achieved from Visual Studio development approach.  Does your environment permit you to develop the solution using Visual Studio?

  • Unfortunately not at the moment. I am assuming then, that there is no simple out of the box options for doing this?
