High CPU every four hours - how to troubleshoot? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We see an increase in CPU usage every four hours.  How do we determine what is causing it?  I can't seem to ever catch it in the act.

  • Hi ,

You can press ctrl + alt +del to open task manager on the machine and go to details tab to check which process is consuming high CPU. (Sort with CPU column)
If it’s a process that customer can stop, or related service can be disabled, stop the service and see if it mitigates the issue. This helps to confirm the process/application causing high CPU.

If the process identified is third party from task manager and if stopping it helps to mitigate the issue, please uninstall the application and resinstall it in the latest version.
If the process is an operating system related process, please try install the update and see if it works.
