Domain Policy do not override or applied to Work Stations that have configurations in gpedit.msc RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Day,

The technical support team left a manual configuration in the gpedit.msc console in the work stations, and the GPO that is applying over machines not working.

Why Domain Policy do not override or applied to Work Stations that have configurations in gpedit.msc?, the policy is Enforced.

    Thanks in advance

  • Good question.. because Domain policy is supposed to override local policy if there is a conflict.

Policy is applied in this order:

    • Local
    • Domain
    • Site
    • OU
    • and Sub-OUs

And any policy that changes something previously set by an earlier policy will win.

What I suspect, though, is that the local policy is staying because nothing in any domain/site/OU linked policy is trying to change the same setting or property.  So that configuration policy item set locally will still remain.
