Auto number Generated Field in a Project Detail Page RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I need to add an auto numbered field with a 3 character prefix (eg. XYZ-00001) and be able to store it in an Enterprise Custom Field in PWA 2013 to keep track of unique projects. I currently am using the Project Detail Page and need to get this auto numbered field into it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Michael,

By far the easiest way to do this is by attaching a workflow to your Enterprise Project Type using SharePoint designer.  This workflow can then generate the ID numbers to your own formula and your users just see it appear in Project Center.

    Here is a step-by-step:

  • Hi Michael,

You might find a good start with this blog. It is for PS2010 but should be applicable for 2013.

    Hope this helps,
