AppV Unpublishing Packages Randomly RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am currently deploying 5 Virtual Applications via OSD task Sequence.  At the end of my Task Sequence, I run a batch file to cache the apps that looks like:

    sftmime /load package:"Comic_Life_French" /log C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\AppV\ComicLF.log
    sftmime /load package:"Clicker5_International" /log C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\AppV\Clicker5.log
    sftmime /load package:"Adobe Reader 9.4.0 English" /log C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\AppV\Adobe_Reader_4.log
    sftmime /load package:"Finale_2008" /log C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\AppV\Finale_2008.log
    sftmime /load package:"Solid Edge ST" /log C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Logs\AppV\Solid_Edge_ST.log

The problem I am having is that the reaults are very random and unpredictable.  When the OSD completes,  sometimes all of the Apps are registered aand cached on the computers, sometimes only a handfull are registered and cached, and sometimes there are none when I log into the computer.  I have pulled the VirtualApp.log and see something interesting, but I don't know what to make of it.  For each of the missing apps I see the following lines:

I have no idea why AppV is deciding to remove random applications.  It seems to be related to caching the packages as they seem to show up consistantly if I don't try to cache.  Any ideas?

    Thanks again,

  • Hello,

SCCM removes a package (if the check box is set to remove the program if not advertised) if the client does not have an advertisment.

Does the client have an advertisement for those packages?

  • No they don't.  I was actually just in the process of removing those check boxes with the theory that the computer object was being marked as obsolete when OSD was complete, making it no longer advertised...but they way you put it makes more sense.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

  • Removed the Check boxes from "remove the program if not advertised", and all seems well now.  I have re-imaged 3 times now with my TS and all apps are registered and cached.

    Thanks
