Win10 CU and Feature Update RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just curious, if my machine is on Windows 10 v1511 and I deployed(as mandatory) both the Win10 v1511 CU and Win10 v1607 Feature update at the same time(both deployments are reboot suppressed), what will happen when I reboot the machine? Will my machine get messed up or not?

Answers

  • Hi, I doubt if you can successfully install all of them as some updates can't be installed if there is a pending reboot.

Deploy both of them actually does not make any sense. If you want it to go to 1607, then you don't need to deploy CU of 1511 as these updates should already be included in feature update of 1607.

  • if you deploy the updates then 1511 will get the updates of 1511 and 1607 will get the updates of 1607 if the applicable.

if you reboot the machine while installation then updates will fail.

  • I am not referring to CU updates of v1607 but the feature update. The windows 10 v1511 CU and windows 10 v1607 feature update are both applicable to my win10 v1511 machine.
