  • Question

  • Our current setup in on Project Server 2003 and we want to quickly get on Project Server 2010.  Is it possible to bring up a 2010 server and get everyone to using it for the newer projects and then circle back around and migrate the older projects on Project server 2003 in at a later time?  Normally it looks like you have to first migrate everything for PS 2003 into PS 2007 and then attach those DBs into PS2010.  I just want to know if I can do this if there already existing PS2010 databases?  Thanks.

  • Hi RichAZ,

Yes, you can do this, but you'll need to migrate the older projects one at a time, so it's going to be a manual migration for the PS2003 projects.  By manual migration, I mean to save each one as an MPP file, and then File | Save As to the PS2010 system.  You'll need to think about whether you want to migrate the SharePoint workspaces too.  I don't think there is any other way.
