Firewall blocking resources from extranet URL root site RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having sharepoint site, whose extranet URL is  https://testserver.ro.com/AWA/site/

Now, firewall on server(On which we will not be getting access) has a rule, which will only allow all site below AWA/site/. e.g  https://testserver.ro.com/AWA/site/test1

NOw, test1 site is having some images/.JS which are taken from _layouts folder, so whenever we access test1 url, we see test1 site, which is totally messed up(no images/no javascript). We tried to find its reason using fiddler , and found that test1 is taking https://testserver.ro.com as reference and finding resources from _layouts and hence getting http 403(in fiddler) for each resource requested from _layouts folder.

When we access same from intranet, we have no problem in page(of course becausse it is inside firewall).

So can welution for extranet? Like redirecting to take relative URL as current URL, instead of root URL

Any help would be appriciated!!!. Thank you

  • Copy the js and images from roots/_layouts to sites/_layouts as this is allowed through the firewall. Then modify your pages to point to resources from this folder.

The other way round, you can modify the firewall rules and include only roots/_layouts instead of root (if you dont want to expose root)

    Thanks,
    Dip
