sharepoint service 3.0 backup and restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • I currently use scheduled stsadm to backup and restore sharepoint, because of the big size, I can only schedule it once a day. I am thinking if can just use the backup and restore feature in centeral administration, doing differential and shedule it(not sure if yes then how to schedule).

also regarding restore, thinking a situation when server completely crash, will set up a new sharepoint service 3, can it be restored if using Central Administration's backup. our current stsadm script full backup is ok to restore.

  • Hi George,

The Backup/Restore feature in CA should not be scheduled, its schedule type is One Time, but you can program a timer job to scheduled back up like this post.

As this post  said it’s better to use the command or script to do the scheduled backup, you can check.

You can restore the farm as this article.

    Regards, Daniel
