Stale SRV Record from KMS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I "had" a domain joined KMS server that was published into DNS. The server was disjoined from the domain (or possibly rebuilt) before the KMS services were removed.

The SRV record for that server is sticking in DNS and I am unable to remove it. If I delete it it comes back immediately.

    I've tried the following.

Rejoin server to the domain uninstall KMS.

    Delete the server from AD.

    Change priorities on the records.

    Delete the server via ADSIEDIT

    Reboot DC's

    powered server off delete record

At this point I dont see it as much a KMS issue but some sort of stale DNS record possibley in the DNS database.

Does anyone have an idea how I can remove this stale SRV record?
