What practices do you do to continuously improve your team technically? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Would like to know your practices (best practices or things-we-shouldn't-do) which will help us be confident that our team is constantly growing technically.

For example, some of the practices I know are:

    - regular knowledge sharing sessions (1 hour lunch trainings, etc.)

    - provide self-study tools / paid subscriptions

    - send people for training

Anything else you'd like to share?

Also, please do comment on how many % of your budget to you allocate for people-development programs like these.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Rafferty,

Classroom Training and self studies won't help much.Simple ask your Team to work on forums find solution for users issues by recreating the issues or Logically Think what could be the problem. and could also learn by answers of other techs. It really depends on their interest and no need to spend for paid subscriptions or wast time on training they could do this as a hobby along with their work.

Some of the sites they can register to are.

Toolbox.com (is a very good forum which covers almost all areas in IT)

    Microsoft Technet

    Symantec.com/Connect

    spiceworks.com

    linuxforums.org
