MOSS 2007 DIP in Word 2003 RRS feed

    I have an MS Word content type in a MOSS 2007 Document Library. There are several custom property fields.

    When a document is opened from MOSS using Word 2007 the Default Microsoft Document Information Panel (DIP) opens correctly at the top of the word document.

    When a document is opened from MOSS using Word 2003 the Default Microsoft Document Information Panel (DIP) does not open.

     

    Is MOSS 2007 DIP not compatible with Word 2003?

    Are users forced to edit the properties using File - Properties from the menu?

    There isn´t full synergy between Office 2003 and SharePoint 2007, this was something that was native to MOSS 2007 (meaning SharePoint AND Office 2007) and wouldn´t have been one of the features catered for when looking at the backwards compatibility between these two products (although I may be wrong).

    I don´t recall seeing this in SharePoint 2003 at all.
