    One can have Skype contacts sitting on top of & inside of Skype showing conversations underneath & see both simultaneously. Start w/ convos window, hit Contact icon, size convo window right & Contacts window will sit on top.  Maybe, everybody already knows this...

    There was/is no plain Skype section; only Skype for Business...

    Something like this.  Size can be larger, but, made smaller & the Contacts will not show (anymore).
