Skype/Lync opening a separate tab for offline users added to group chat RRS feed

  • Question

  • When we have a group chat going on, if any user adds a group with lets say 10 members and 5 of those members are offline.  A separate window for ever user that is offline comes up that says

------ is inviting you to a Skype for Business meeting.  You can join via the web or Desktop client by clicking this link.  Is there anyway to prefect the extra window from opening?

We are running Lync Server 2013 and skype for business client 16.0.11328.20068 32 bit

  • Hi Tim254,

We have tested in our environment, we got the same result as yours, the offline users will exit the current group and the user who send IM to the group will have a new window to show the message you provided. Based on my research, this is an expected behavior, and we could not do the changes for now. If you want to change about this, I suggest you could submit your feedback in the following link: https://www.skypefeedback.com/, Microsoft will improve MS products based on the feedback and hope this problem will be solved in the near future.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang
