Change of primary user name did not change the folder name RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I gave my cmputer t my husband, I changed the primary/administrator User Name from "Mary" to "John".  When I looked at the folders and files in Windows Explorer, I noticed the new user name [John] and further down in the list I saw that the User Name 'Mary' was still in the Users folder.

My troubles began when he started to delete files from the "Mary" folder thinking they were duplicates.  Is there a way of also changing the folder name from "Mary" to "John"?  Please!

  • Hi,

When you just change the user name, the profile name will not be changed in c:\users\userprofile. That’s by design behavior.

You can create another user account for your husband. A new profile will be created for new user.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
