Rule extension recomplile from x86 DLL to x64 DLL RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use MIIS for galsync.

We use custom extension DLL which is written by VisualStudio2003.

We plan to migrate from MIIS to FIM.

    I use x86 windows7 and VisualStudio2010Expressx86.

    VisualStudio2010Expressx86 can recompile x86 VisualStudio2003 source code to x64 platform DLL ?

  • I'm not entirely familiar with Visual Studio 2010 Express (x86). I would generally recommend you install Visual Studio on your FIM Development environment (which would be x64).

However, a quick google makes a recommendation for Visual C++ Express, which may be of help:

Go to Properties of your project. On the top of the dialog box there will be a "Configuration" drop-down menu. Make sure that selects "All Configurations." There will also be a "Platform" drop-down that will read "Win32." Finally on the right there is a "Configuration Manager" button - press it. In the dialog that comes up, find your project, hit the Platform drop-down, select New, then select x64. Now change the "Active solution platform" drop-down menu to "x64." When you return to the Properties dialog box, the "Platform" drop-down should now read "x64."

Essentially, if you can't find the option to compile for x64 in your project properties, then you will probably need to upgrade Visual Studio.
