Can't send/receive file externally RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an OCS Edge and Standard server working for everything except sending files to and from external people.  I've installed the communicator on my home pc and logged in as myself and have been testing sending and recieiving files and always get an error about a firewall restriction or network problem.  On the two computers i'm using, both firewalls are turned off.  On our corporate filewall, ports 6891 through 6901 are open.  We do have Forefront for OCS installed on the Edge server only; however, we I had this problem before that was installed.

Does anyone have anything for me to try and fix this?

  • I believe that is Microsoft's intended behaviour. It is a pain, but right now I dont think its possible to send/recieve files externally

  • File transfer is a peer to peer functionality which doesn't work through NAT between internally and externally connected OC clients.
