Project Server 2013 Timesheet Options RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

In project server 2013 timesheet, there is an option "Send Progress for All Tasks to send the task update. If we fill the timesheet with some actual hours and select the option Send Progress for All Tasks” , nothing is happening. It is not updating the task progress in the task page or not submitting the update to the PM. What is the function of this option, is there is any dependency.

    Thanks in advance, Taj

  • Can you check if the Timesheet is in Single Entry Mode (SEM)?

To Turn on single entry mode

Administrators can turn on single entry mode on the Server Settings page to enable users to enter time and task progress in the same view.
    1. On the Quick Launch, click Server Settings.
    2. On the Server Settings page, in the Time and Task Management section, click Timesheet Settings and Defaults.
    3. Select the Single Entry Mode check box, and then click Save.

If the Timesheet is in SEM then Task Updates should be sent to the PM. Also, check if the Status Manager is same as the Project Manager. You can do this by Opening the Project associated with the tasks in the users Timesheet in Project Professional and add the column Status Manager in the Gantt Chart view. Locate the Task which was in the user's Timesheet and see if the status manager is the same as the Project Manager

  • Hi,

This option is supposed to send only the task updates to the status manager(s). It will not send the whole timesheet to the timesheet manager. So the status manager should receive the task updates in his approval center. Check that the status manager of the given tasks is the expected one. Note also that, if I remember well, if the resource submitting the task updates is also the status manager, it is automatically approved. Finally, in the approval center, check the history page to see if the status updates have been automatically approved and are waiting to be published.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Guillaume,

Thanks for your replay, we have two instance of the Project Server 2013, we checked this function both the instance. The timesheet task progress / update are not going to the status / project manager for approval. Even we checked the project schedule, the particular task is not updated with the timesheet data.

Note: we have deployed March 2016 CU.

    Thanks in advance, Taj

  • Hi Taj,

It could be normal that the task update is not reflected in the project plan because it has to be approved and published before it is sent to the project schedule.

The issue is more that the task update should go to the project manager (status manager). Do you have automatic approval rules configured? Can you check on a brand new file? You create the project so you are the status manager, you assign another resource to the task, then you submit the update with a delegation session and check in your approval center what happens. See also the queue to check the jobs. Finally check the history page in the approval center.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Dinesh,

Thanks for your reply, we tried with single entry mode the option is working. I think Send Progress for All Tasks” option only for the SEM.

    Thanks in advance, Taj
