Locate where AD Groups are used in Sharepoint Groups

We are currently using Sharepoint 2007. The organisation has restructured and there may now be AD Security Groups, that management require to be removed that have been embedded in Sharepoint Groups. Permissions have not been very well applied in the past using user accounts, AD Security Groups and Sharepoint Groups at varying points in the site collection. There are 400 sites within the site collection.

Is there a simple mechanism to trace where these now redundant AD Security Groups may have been applied? I really don't want to "Check Permissions" on each site!

There is not a OOB way to Dump this out , You would need to use PS scripting for that .

Here is an example at http://geekswithblogs.net/bjackett/archive/2009/04/24/the-power-of-powershell-and-sharepoint-enumerating-sharepoint-permissions-and.aspx . I haven't tested this .

There is also a Codeplex tool at http://permissionsmanager.codeplex.com/ , which might be of Some help .
