Discovery "cannot be initialized" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have written a management pack to collect data from our machines.  The machines are running Red Hat Linux 5, so this is through cross platforms extensions.  One of the discoveries in the management pack is giving the following error in the event log:

Rule/Monitor "GDC4S.TVE.AuditSettingData.Discovery" running for instantce "station4.win2003.hapess.local" with id "{<long id>}" cannot be initialized and will not be loaded.  Management group "win2003ess".

Being new to this I am having trouble tracking this down.  Can I get some tips on where to start looking for the solution to this problem?  Are there any better logs or indications about what might actually be happening?

    Thanks!

  • Likely a permission problem - that is where I would start.
