Upgrade from DPM 2007 to 2010 failing on Reporting Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have been trying to upgrade from DPM 2007 (version 2.0.8864.0) on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter (x64) machine with a local SQL 2005 database to DPM 2010. When I run the installer it fails when installing the SQL 2008 instance. The error that gets returned is when configuring Reporting Services - "Input string was not in a correct format" (full error from log below).

    Feature: Reporting Services
Status: Failed: see logs for details
    MSI status: Passed
Configuration status: Failed: see details below
    Configuration error code: 0x3FB6F251
Configuration error description: Input string was not in a correct format.
    Configuration log: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20100609_133015\Detail.txt

I have tried several times to remove the SQL instance completely before reinstalling, as well as removing the Reporting Services and re-adding it and I come across the same error every time.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • After a bit more investigation (and much trawling of logs!) it appears that the problem was with the performance counters when installing Reporting Services. Running "lodctr /R" seems to have cleared up the problem for now.
