Lemmatiztion by reduction - supported in FS4SP? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all -

I don't find any mention of inndex lemmatization by reduction in the context of FS4SP - can someone confirm that this is, or is not, supported?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

FS4SP is configured to expand the content during indexing with lemma forms. If you want to configure it differently you are on your own :)

  • Hey Mikael -

Looking at the LemmatizationConfig.xml, I see that some dialects/languages seem to be configured for reduction, in fact.  So I guess the technology is there.

I probably need to refine my question, as follows:  is it possible to set this strategy on a field-by-field basis (or managed property basis?  In other words, is it possible to achieve index lemmatization by expansion, for some props, and by reduction for others?  It doesn't seem like it, from a look at that file.

    Your input appreciated - thanks!

  • Hi Paul!

You can only enable stemming on a managed property. You cannot define the type of stemming performed.

And modifying LemmatizationConfig.xml is not supported as you may know.

  • Hi,

Say you go about modifying how lemmatization is performed (and unsupported does not mean illegal, and it will not void your warranty, but may stop you from getting official support). Why would you want both lemma by expansion and reduction? What's the use-case?
