NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain -> DnsDomainDoesNotExist: InfoDomainNonexistent RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have configured two Exchange 2016 servers in DAG mode. The send connector is configured with SmartHost.

The emails are delivering and receiving without any issue with in orginization. However, if we send an email from any external email ( like from gmail) then we are getting the following error. Can anyone guide us on this case.

Server at  returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
10/10/2017 7:51:08 PM - Exc-he-db01 returned '451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. The error was: SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain -> DnsDomainDoesNotExist: InfoDomainNonexistent'

  • Hi,

    Thanks for contacting our forum.

Given the error message, it seems that our domain DNS records cannot be lookup correctly. You can use NSlookup to check. Meanwhile, you can use telnet command to test too.

We can also use the MXToolbox: https://mxtoolbox.com/ to test our domain, if we have a DNS records configured correctly.

If any test results, please post out. Or you can post out your domain name, i can help to test.

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi Jason,

Thanks for your reply. I have managed to resolve the issue. This kind of issue appears if MX record is not properly pointing to smart host ( if smart host has been used by Exchange administrator).
