setup a Distribution Point in ConfigMgr 2012 on a VM machine RRS feed

  • Dear All,

    Are there any specfic prerequistes or instruction while creating the DP on VM machines.

    The normal setup instruction follwed are:

    Operating System: Windows Vista Sp2/Windows 7/Windows 2003 / Windows 2008 Server.
    Administrative access on SCCM Server.
    SCCM Client on the system.

    IIS, BITS, .ASP,.Net Framework 

    SCCM client installed

    Give Permsion on To be DP server and SCCM server, like ConfigMgr site server computer account to the Local Administrators group on the machine(that we would to build as DP)

    Plz confirm.

    The required configuration, including roles and features for a ConfigMgr 2012 distribution point can be found in the link below (see section on distribution point)

    Once you've installed and configured the required roles and features as listed in this article, make sure that your Primary Site server computer account is in the local administrators group of your distribution point site server.

    Also make sure you place the no_sms_on_site.sms flag file in any partition that you don't want to host configuration manager content (e.g. c:\!) as distribution manager will check for this flag file prior to distributing content and ignore any drive that has it.

    You can then install your distribution point as normal and the ConfigMgr client is optional (make sure you're licensed correctly if installing the client on a server operating system!)
