External Ethernet adapter already bound error when no virtual switch exists

  • When I try to create a virtual switch it gives me the error  "External Ethernet Adapter is already bound to the Microsoft virtual switch protocol" but I don't have any virtual switches set up at all.  Is there a way to clear this and start over?

  • Disable and enable Ethernet. If this didn't work, delete it from device manager and then reinstall.

    Thank you,

  • Hi Sir,

Please check the protocols which bound on that physical NIC which you are going to use .

I mean the option "Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch" in the properties of that physical NIC .

If it was checked please uncheck it .

    Best Regards,
