Export Users' data - Skype for Business RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We need to move users from one Skype for Business system to another one (they are not in the same topology).

I know how to enable the users from scratch but how can I backup the users' data like contacts etc.

Unluckily the FQDN of the pool will change (this is different AD domain).

In Lync 2010 there was dbimpexp in Lync 2013 there was Export-csuser.

How can I do that in Skype for Business?

  • Hi iron_flower,

What do you mean the dbimpexp?

Export-CsUserData can export user data in a format that can be imported into Skype for Business Server. Then, you can use Import-CsUserData to import user data.

  • Hi Sharon,

Even if the name of the pool changes?

  • Hi iron_flower,

No, you cannot import the file to another topology.  Due to too many properties was changed.

  • Hi iron_flower,

You cannot do like that because these are two totally different topology.

You can create users in AD first. Then use the following command to enable users for Skype for Business.

Enable-CsUser -Identity "Pilar Ackerman" -RegistrarPool "atl-cs-001.litwareinc.com" -SipAddress "sip:pilar@litwareinc.com"
