Modify the Desktop Background, crash the system startup? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi
I've already installed W7 RC Build 7100 'bout a month ago in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite M505D).  It's really satisfying for me, before i've changed my desktop backgrounds using my own theme (my favourite pictures) a week ago.
    At first, it's all fine.
But after I restart it, then it show a bluescreen.
W7 recovered the system immediately, but it still annoying.
So, how can I changed the theme safely?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.

Can you reproduce this issue by changing back the theme and restart? If so, the issue may be related to modifying the desktop background. Otherwise, it is caused by other reasons. As I know, blue screen can be related to several factors, such as device drivers, anti-virus services, hardware changes, especially changes with some input devices. These factors cause some errors in kernel, we get a blue screen if Windows detects these errors and kills the box in case some more server damage happens. Please look in Event Viewer and find if any errors list.

BTW, we usually take the following website for customizing theme.

    Best Regards.
