Hi all,
I wanted to let everyone know that there is updated help content available
now for the Application Compatibility Toolkit, version 5.0.2! This update is
a doc-only release and includes:
• More detailed shim documentation. The Known Compatibility Fixes,
Compatibility Modes, and AppHelp Messages section has been updated to include
specific details for 26 more of the included compatibility fixes. In
addition, the previous topics, Using the CorrectFilePaths Fix and Using the
VirtualRegistry Fix have been updated with more detailed information.
• Updated table of contents. This reorganization exposes more of the content
at a higher level.
• Updated Index. Better directs you to the content you are looking for.
• Phase 3: Testing and Mitigating Your Compatibility Issues topics. This
section and its topics are brand new to the ACT documentation. In this
section, you will find information about general testing guidance and
methodology, information about the associated development tools, which
include the Setup Analysis Tool (SAT), the Standard User Analyzer (SUA) tool,
the Internet Explorer Compatibility Test Tool, and the Compatibility
Administrator tool. In this section, you will also find the Known
Compatibility Fixes, Compatibility Modes, and AppHelp Messages topics, and
the Known Internet Explorer Security Feature Issues topics.
In addition to this release, which you can download from the Microsoft
Download site, we have also updated the information in the Windows Vista
Technical Library, located on Technet. We hope that you find this release
valuable.
