How to manage boundaries in a phased migration?

Question
-
We will be looking to migrate from 2007 to 2012, but no all at once.
We are at the start of a Windows XP - Windows 7 migration.
We would like to have the 2007 and 2012 environments running side by side and the Windows 7 machines 'talking' to the CM12 server.
The 2007 server/environment would be phased out as desktops/laptops are migrated to Windows 7 (and ConfigM gr 2012). Therefore we could have two people sitting next to one another on different OS's and connecting to different ConfigMgr Environments.
How would you manage this effectively?

Just avoid overlapping boundary (groups) for site assignment: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427326.aspx
Both CM07 and CM12 can be set up without any boundaries at all (with some limitations in roaming scenarios and auto site assignment).Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

During the migration period you can have same Boundaries in CM07 and CM12.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if say 2 machines were on the same AD Site, in the same IP range, but one was Win 7 and one XP, how would I avoid overlapping boundaries?Monday, June 11, 2012 12:29 PM
