File Server Migration in Cross Forest

Hello Folks,

I need advice or suggestion for migrating a file server in cross forest environment.

Transitive two way trust between both the forests in place

Action Plan: After migrating the users from forest A to forest B via ADMT tool they will still be able to access the resources in both the forests, if yes then i will plan for the downtime and move the File server with all security and permissions from forest A to forest B.

Above is my understanding if there any other way do let me know, Thanks in anticipation

Hi Mohammed,

Thanks for your post.

We could use FSMT and ADMT to migrate the files and the permission. Since the permission is related to the user account. To migrate SID history and ACL for files/folders, you need to first migrate the users, then migrate the files.
