Active Directory Replication between site offices

    Question

  • We are looking for Active Directory Replication between two offices across the regions. Current Scenario is,

Site-A and Site-B are located in different regions.

    Site-A:
    Domain Controller (domain_A.com) : Windows Server 2012 R2
Office 365 with Azure AD Connect

    Site-B:
    Domain Controller (domain_B.com) : Windows Server 2012 R2
    On-Premises Exchange Server : Exchange 2010

    * Site-A and Site-B will connect through Site-to-Site VPN tunnel.
    * And also in Site-B, we are planing move on-premisis exchange server to office 365 and integrate with Azure AD connect.

We are planning to replicate both sites. Please advise the possible solution to replicate AD between two regions.

    Regards, Minhaj.

  • Hi,

You can create connection object manually between domain controller, but It's recommended to let this task to KCC to create them automatically, in this case you need to create site link between the two AD sites on Sites and services active directory wizard.

    KCC and Topology Generation

How Active Directory Replication Topology Works

  • Is this two site from different Domain? then you can't replicate, you have to create a trust between domains

If sites are from same Domain then create a site-link that will automatically create connection object
