Lync 2010 - cannot hear participants in Conference

Question
-
Greetings,
I am using Lync 2010 at my work place and I have a very annoying issue. When joining any type of conferences I cannot hear participants in any way, even though they all can hear me speak. This issue happens only with the current headphones that I am using. Meanwhile, with these headphones, I can listen clearly to sounds coming from other places (YouTube, system messages etc.) and even sounds from the Audio Settings part in Lync 2010.
Also, when I start a new Audio Call test using the built-in function, my speakers start with Volume 0 and even though I increase the volume, I can't hear what I am saying (even though the microphone is showing to work).
I have tried to Disable exclusive access for the headphones, I have uninstalled any other app that might have interfered with the system and mainly, done everything that I found online (except maybe update the Audio codecs, which I don't know how to).
Do note that my headphones work perfectly on my colleagues PC (which is identical), so this must be related with my own Lync / configuration. Also I have tried with another user on my own PC, and it still doesn't work.
Any helps? Thanks in advance.

Hello again,
For those still watching, I've managed to update the Lync version but the issue is still present. As for the Lync audio codecs, they are managed by the servers and I can't reach those. Considering the fact that everyone else has the same codecs and the headphone work on other machines, it must have something to do with my own laptop.
I ended up returning the headphones.
Thanks for the support

Hi Silviu-Alexandru Serban,
Please make sure the devices are qualified for Lync. (Although I know it works on your colleague’s PC, but it’s recommended that you use the certified device.)

You may try to re-install the Lync 2010 application, and also patch it to the latest version.
If the problem continues, please try to install Lync 2013 to see if it works.
Best regards,
Eric

Please try re-staging the machine with new client of 2010. It might required repair as it is not able to understand the default windows media device. When you plugin the headset, windows will make that device default output and Lync client should be able to understand the change.
You can also try testing on the speaker of computer or Laptop.
Hope this answers your doubt.

Hello,
I don't see the point of checking a list of supported devices when my headset works on an almost-cloned PC. Also, I have installed Lync 2013 and the issue persists but, I have tested my headsets on another colleagues PC with Windows 8 (I currently have 7) and Lynch 2013, and they work.
As for re-installing Lync 2010, I will take a look into that.
Thanks

Hello. There are no issues, from my point of view, with Lync understanding my headphones. Actually, Lync 2010 works with these headphones, meaning that I can hear test sounds and when someone calls me, but when I enter a conference everything goes mute.
Regarding my laptop speakers, as I said in the primary description of the issue, the Lync 2010 client works perfectly (even when paired with other headphones).
There is certainly an issue when it comes to Lync 2010 audio codecs compatibility with these headphones, which could be resolved with an update. Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks again

Small update: I have uninstalled the Lync 2010 client and then installed it back again. Doesn't work. So here's an updated version of what I have done so far:
-I have tried to Disable exclusive access for the headphones
-I have uninstalled any other app that might have interfered with the system and mainly, done everything that I found online (except maybe update the Audio codecs, which I don't know how to).
- uninstall and re-install Lync 2010
- install Lync Basic 2013 and test with that version - doesn't work (but I have a colleague with Windows 8 and Lync 2013 and the headphones work there as well)
- login with another user on my own PC, and it still doesn't work.Friday, March 11, 2016 3:04 PM -

Hi Silviu,
Contact Razer Support (Headset manufacturer) get advise on device.. like an fault with that model using with Lync/SFB.
Alternatively you can follow below solution, this will work for sure, as I tested with one non standard headset:
In Sound, I made sure the my headset was set as the default communications device, and the default microphone. Under the speaker icon in Lync made sure the sound was turned up and that the sound was turned up on the speaker icon in windows. Also, in your case, if your using Razer, make sure you headset isn't muted in the app and that the sound is turned on.
Then reboot, it will work for you.

Hello,
Thanks for the advice, but I have already tried anything related to Windows settings and I even got to the point of modifying registry entries. As for the Razer software, I uninstalled long ago. With it I couldn't even get inside Lync conferences, as Lync disconnected them automatically (weird stuff I know).
As for the headphones itself, I refuse to believe it has anything to do with them, as they work perfectly fine with the computer next to me (which is pretty much the same hardware/software installation).
Will wait for further ideas but I'll try to see what Razer says as well.
