SQL 2016 Licensing Server + CAL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

Hey guys, i'm setting up a new SQL server, which will be licensed in the Server + CAL model. There will be an application server accessed by approximately 50 people through handheld devices at the same time. (Note: They'll be accessing the App server, which then populates the SQL DB server)

Question: Do i need 50 CALs for the users, or it's one CAL for the app server?

Also note that the users will be accessing the App servers using Remote Desktop (RDP) CALs
