  • I cannot access windows even though I put in the correct password. I get a message telling me it is trying to locate windows then a message saying this fault can usually be rectified by signing out and signing in again but that doesn't work

  • Hi,

Here are some suggestions to help you get back into your account as quickly as possible. First, try the easiest options:

If you remember your password but it isn’t working, make sure that Caps Lock is turned off and that your email address is spelled correctly.

Clear your browser history, or try signing in to your account from a different internet browser.

In addition, if you've forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to retrieve or reset it:

If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.

If you're using a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more info, see Reset your password.

If you're using a local account, use your password hint as a reminder.

If you still can't sign in and are using Windows 8.1, you must reinstall Windows. For Windows RT 8.1, contact your PC manufacturer.
