Cannot delete items in the Deleted folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get an error message 'The folder 'Deleted Items' cannot be selected. This may be because of a limitation of your IMAP server or the folder may have been deleted or moved.' (It hasn't). What should I do? The folder is now so full I believe it is slowing down my laptop. Grateful for any assistance you can offer. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

To narrow down you issue, I want to confirm:
    1. Is it a IMAP account?
    2. How about use other methods (like web app) to connect this account and check the status of this problematic folder?

I recommend run Outlook with Safe mode to check, then check the Add-ons and disable suspicious Add-ons if it works in Safe mode. Also, try run Windows with clean boot and re-configure Outlook profile for testing.

Moreover, I notice that the folder are so full, please try to use Outlook AutoArchive function to reduce the size of .OST or .PST file: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Reduce-the-size-of-Outlook-Data-Files-pst-and-ost-e4c6a4f1-d39c-47dc-a4fa-abe96dc8c7ef

  • Hi.

In local computer has Outlook Database which sometimes can be corrupted and it makes some difficulties for users, it might be: cannot delete mails; when receiving mail it can be empty; when receiving mail it will send few times and so.

To solve problems like these you will need to delete this database. To do it; goto

    %userprofile%\appdata\romaing profile\outlook\

    delete the localdb file.

And restart your outlook again and check.
